Message from the CEO

Jidaimura Co., Ltd. was founded in September 1982 by our predecessor, Isamu Noguchi. The mission was to address the severe depopulation of rural areas in Japan, a significant social issue at the time, through private sector initiatives. Our core business, EDO WONDERLAND Nikko Edomura, was established with the belief that the lifestyle of the Edo period holds numerous insights for resolving these issues. The aim was to preserve and pass on the cultural traditions of the Edo period to future generations.

In 2003, when I became the second-generation president, I announced the "EDO WONDERLAND Declaration" to advance our company’s philosophy. This declaration was based on recognizing that Edo was the world's first city to exceed a population of one million and that the exceptional ecosystem within Edo's way of life offers solutions to today’s global pursuit of sustainable societies.

The more we explore the lives of people in the Edo period, the more we see a society where the social structure was horizontally interconnected. Each class—samurai, farmers, artisans, and merchants—worked cooperatively to build a thriving community.

By focusing on this era rich in wisdom, we at Jidaimura Co., Ltd. are committed to contributing to a better society, both in Japan and globally, under the guiding principle that "Edo is the answer."
